We just finished our annual retreat for local youth groups called Winter White Out. One moment captured the heart of why we do what we do. But first, does anyone know what Winter White Out even is?
Winter White Out is a retreat we host every year for local youth groups. We take care of the planning, activities, speaker, food, lodging, and schedule, so that youth leaders can focus on discipleship and community with their students.
We had the privilege of hosting Riverwood Community Church and their energetic youth group. Despite sub-zero temperatures, these students raced cardboard sleds, played fun games, and even heard from one of our alumni summer staff as their weekend speaker! Overall, this retreat really fulfilled our mission to inspire people to trust and treasure Jesus Christ.
Josie, one of the youth leaders, was leaving for a mission trip a few days after their retreat. On the last morning that the group was at camp, everyone gathered around Josie, laid hands on her, and began to pray. This is the power of camp ministry–seeing a community of believers support one another to serve the Lord. What a powerful testament to God’s work in the lives of these kids.
We’re still praying for Josie—and for more moments like this with every group that walks through our doors.
